SR Architects were commissioned to re-organise and extend the existing Art and Design and Technology block at Monkton Senior school. Nestled at the lower end of a quadrangle of buildings and in a sensitive Green Belt location, we designed a new and impressive frontage incorporating two carefully crafted timber-clad cubes housing the two departments and set either side of entrance exhibition area with dynamic gull-wing roof. Cross laminated timber was selected for speed of install with the structure left raw internally and providing a cost-effective and beautiful material backdrop for the display of the artwork itself.

Construction was completed in 7 months.
