Beckford Road, Bath, 'Orangery' Extension'
Client: Private
Project Value: £40,000
This scheme extends the garden flat within a large Victorian House in the highly sensitive Bathwick Conservation Area. The flat, which was previously entered via the kitchen, is now provided with a new entrance and hallway, a utility room and secondary entrance from the garden, a wc and a formal garden room.
Traditional hardwood roof lanterns were used to flood the internal spaces in natural light providing a spacious feel from what is otherwise a modest extension and creating visual links to the outside from the deeper internal spaces of the flat. Traditional Bath stone was used as facing material.
