Nottingham City Hospital,
Haematology Department
Client: Nottingham City Hospital NHS Trust
Project Value: £6m
SR Architects Directors Sohrab Rustomjee and Chris Allen were instrumental in winning the Acute Haematology Unit when working for David Hutchison Partnership, with Chris proceeding as Project Architect for this £6m scheme.
The unit consisted of outpatients, day-care facilities and shared admin/support services at ground floor level, general haematology and bone marrow transplant wards at first and second floor and administration above to replace the inadequate current facilities dispersed over the Nottingham City Hospital Campus and also supplement the research facilities for the Queens Medical Centre.
The four storey scheme is set within a restricted site and presents many technical issues which compound the functional complexity of the unit. The facility was completed in July 2006.
