Refurbishment of office building into new centre for holistic children's healthcare provision
Client: North Bristol NHS Trust
Community Children's Health Partnership
Project Value: Withheld
SRA role:  Project Architect

SR Architects have designed, secured change-of-use planning approval and produced construction documentation for the refurbishment of an existing office building unit into a new Children’s Services hub for the East Central section of Bristol. The office unit is situated within an attractive well landscaped courtyard office environment with a good south facing aspect and is part of a terrace of office buildings in brick and tile construction.

North Bristol NHS Trust has pursued this development to address the current under-provision of suitable facilities for East/Central Bristol thus providing services at a local level avoiding extended patient/staff journeys to facilities elsewhere in Bristol or further afield.  The proposal will involve co-locating the following services into one appropriately located Children's Centre:  Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Professionals, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Community Paediatricians, Health Visitors, School Health Nurses, Child Protection Services, Management and admin services.

The layout design has been developed on the basis of locating all patient services on Ground Floor with supportive administrative functions located in controlled access areas at the First/Second Floors above.

Construction is scheduled for completion near the end of 2011.
